Machine Safety Project Management – Pharmaceutical Ingredient Plant

Scoping and Specification
Explore how data was extracted from The MinRisk App to prepare a mechanical Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) and scope of works document to address numerous mechanical guarding safety risks.

When numerous mechanical guarding safety risks are identified, a Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) and Scope of Works document are needed to resolve the risks in a timely manner.

In 2017, TEG Risk was able to conduct a site-wide risk assessment of a pharmaceutical ingredient plant, using a beta version of MinRisk – saving the company $45,000 compared to another consultancy tender. The app enabled the recording of data of multiple machine risk assessments. Our project management services were then needed to address the 127 notifiable machine guarding risks (all would have incurred large fines under official audit).

When the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) had no solution for the machine risks, that required frequent operator interactions, TEG Risk stepped in. We prepared detailed machine risk assessments, design concepts, scope of works and detailed SRS.

A successful implementation of fixes was important, and commended by the automation and electrical contractors) in spite of the very small commissioning window. Plant safety has been significantly improved, along with overall efficiency of the plant.

Machine Safety Project Management Services

Access expert TEG Risk Project Management Consultants to ensure risks identified in your machine safety risk assessments are planned, prioritised and designed to meet health and safety standards.
